The use of XML in Latin-American academic journals

The use of XML in Latin-American academic journals

Francisco Osorio
Cinta de Moebio journal editor
Introduction Within our vocabulary as readers and producers of articles, we already know that these can exist in different formats, such as doc, pdf, and html. In this ecosystem of different forms of articles, the xml is integrated into the conversation. To give context to this conversation, we can take the journals as we knew them (that exist and will keep on existing) as a basis. Their format is a printout. with a comfortable size to hold in our hands, with letters and graphics (photographs in some cases) thought to make the reading of the contents easier. These journals, in some cases truly works of art arranged in series. are stable in their design, that is, statics. It does not matter the country in which they are read or where the reader that manipulates them by advancing through their pages is from as their structure will always be the same. Nowadays, nevertheless, the digital format is different. We can read an article on a desktop computer, a tablet, a mobile phone, and, in general, in various types of screens that exist and that can exist. For example, we could imagine a student using public transport on the way to college, reading an article of our journals on the screen of his watch while is on the trip. Something more recent is the case of a loved teacher, already retired, who told me he was losing his eyesight, but that he had adapted the television of his house to read the articles of digital journals as the screen was huge.
